The Three Sisters. Soil and Soul. #3. ORIGINAL ART. Scottish. Loch Lomond. Ancestors. Ancestral Lands.

£189.00
Above the hills tower thee tall mountain peaks. Known as the three sisters people make a pilgrimage to each of the peaks I turn - asking for healing and wisdom.

This painting speaks to those high holy places, places that feel very different, perhaps as you are closer to the otherworld.

This painting came from a walk up my favorite hill. A hill with an ancient rich history which once had an iron Age Fort. There are even theories that this hill was the site of Camelot and that the legendary Merlin, came from the town at the foot of the hill.

The painting is multi-layered, with ancestral figures, and is painted with a little sacred soil - a rich brown from the sandstone bedrock. The hill lies a few miles southwest of Loch Lomond and is also in the realm of the Celtic Goddess Clutha.

The hill was one of the first place my dad would take us hill walking when I was wee and I loved playing the disappearing game - squinting my eyes and imagining what this place looked like before the roads and the houses, the electric lights and the cars.

PAINTING DETAILS
I have used a mud paste as paint in creating this painting, taken from near where I found the deer hoof print (see photo).
The main painting is created with acrylic paints and marks made with oil pastels. The image has been sprayed with a matt varnish.
