The Cailleach. She is the oldest Celtic deity.
At Samhain (31st October) as she makes her way to the Corryvrecken Whirlpool - the Cailleach's Cauldron - and washes her great plaid. When she shakes it dry water droplets instantly freeze covering the surrounding hilltops in the first dusting of spring. Modernity paints her as an evil old crone who strikes down life but they have forgotten her age-old ritual - life must die throughout the winter in order for it to be reborn again in spring.
The symbol needle felted on her is called Cup and Rings markings, neolithic symbols found on stones in the area
