The Bean Chaointe, crying or keening woman led a community through their grief in a ritual that often incorporated much wailing and crying.
Within her role she was also sending the soul home, showing them the way back to the otherworld.
As a figurine inspired by this ancient women's role she invites you to explore your own grief - not to erase it but to see it in a new light, see what it teaches us, such as living more deeply.

Making Process
This doll is made over an upper body wire armature. Layers of wool are added to build up the body. The clothing layers are added, using stitching to create texture, then I add embellishments such as top stitching and sewing on shells.
